What to Eat at Food Republic VivoCity
Are you looking for an affordable place to eat before or after spending a whole day in the touristy (and expensive) island of Sentosa? Food Republic at VivoCity might be what you’re looking for.
Conveniently located at VivoCity Level 3, right next to the Sentosa Express is Food Republic, a huge food court spanning 27,000 sqft with 870 seats and over 20 food stalls (shared seating) and 11 mini-restaurants (with their own seats inside restaurant).

Here, you can find local delights (such as chicken rice, fishball noodle, prawn noodle, fish soup) as well as international cuisines (such as Japanese food, Mala Tang, Indonesian food, Malaysian food).
With so many stalls to choose from, it’s easy to get overwhelmed. Fret not, as a local who frequently visit the food court, here are my top picks.
10 Stalls to Try at Food Republic VivoCity
1. Feng Xiang Bak Kut Teh

Feng Xiang offers taste of Klang, a busy port in Malaysia, through their signature Herbal Bak Kut Teh which pairs well with you tiao (fried dough) and a bowl of rice.
But, for me, the highlight is the Fried Porridge with Pork Cutlet. Instead of white porridge that we used to know, the porridge here is simmered in flavourful broth and “fried” in a fiery wok with bursting flames, literally (not figuratively). For pork leg lovers, the Braised Pig’s Trotter is worth trying.
Feng Xiang Bak Kut Teh is a mini-restaurant in Food Republic and has its own seating area.
2. Xi Dian Hong Kong Dim Sum

Xi Dian Hong Kong Dim Sum serves quality Cantonese dim sum. Every dim sum is handmade on-site daily using recipe that’s been passed down three generations in the family.
I personally enjoy the Steamed Rice Roll with Barbecued Pork! My husband tried the Steamed Ox Tripe with Spicy Sauce and said it’s good (I didn’t try because I do not enjoy organs).

Some of their signature dishes are Steamed Pork Dumplings with Crab Roe, Salted Egg Custard Bun, and Steamed Barbecued Pork Bun.
However, I wouldn’t recommend their pan-fried pork bun though. Xi Dian Hong Kong Dim Sum is a mini-restaurant in Food Republic and has its own seating area.
3. Mizuya Kaisen Don & Tempura

Helmed by Chef Kenny with over 25 years of experience, Mizuya Kaisen Don & Tempura serves various delectable Japanese cuisines, such as Tempura, Donburi, and Sashimi.
Their tempura is double-fried to ensure the food stays light and crisp. If you’re a tempura fan, pair your tempura with their signature umami mushroom rice (which I love very much)!

With four weekly shipments of fresh seafood from Japan, you can expect fresh ingredients in seafood dishes such as Premium Chirashi Don and Salmon Don. For an elevated experience, try the Kagoshima A5 Wagyu Don.
Mizuya Kaisei Don & Tempura is a mini-restaurant in Food Republic and has its own seating area.
4. Zhang Liang Mala Tang

Founded in 2008 in Harbin, China, Zhang Liang Mala Tang has become a global sensation with over 6,000 outlets worldwide.
Customers can choose their own ingredients from the shelf, and choose their preferred soup base (such as Mala Bone Broth, Tomato Soup, Tom Yum).

We tried their Tian Shui Malaban, and every bite was bursting with flavours! I recommend you order a bowl of rice to go with it, because the flavour is intense.
Zhang Liang Mala Tang is a mini-restaurant in Food Republic and has its own seating area.
5. New Hong Kong Roast

Established since 1990, New Hong Kong Roast has been serving quality roast meats at affordable prices for years.
You can choose single meat or combination of meats, and your preferred carb (rice or noodle). This is a stall I would go for when I need a comfort food of white rice and juicy meats.
6. LiXin Teochew Fishball Noodles

LiXin is well-known for its fishballs that are made twice daily using only yellowtail fish and kept chilled in cold water but never frozen.
Founder Lim Lee Seng started selling fishball noodles from a pushcart in 1968. His time-honoured method is now passed down to his son Eddic Lim. LiXin was awarded Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2022 and 2023.
Personally, I really enjoy the Fishball Noodle as well as The Folks’ Favourite Noodles.
7. First Street Teochew Fish Soup

First Street Fish Soup is a famous old school fish soup originally from Kovan. Started in 1988, First Street Fish Soup has served delicious, comforting bowl of fish soup for over 30 years.
There are various types of fish you can choose from: Chinese Pomfret Fish, Garopa Fish Soup or Batang Fish Soup.
For those craving for a healthy and hearty comfort food, the melt-in-your-mouth fish simmered in light, aromatic broth will keep you wanting to come back for more.
8. Bara Express Indonesian Grilled Rice

Bara Express Indonesian Grilled Rice delivers the bold and authentic flavours of Indonesia.
Specialising in Nasi Bakar, their signature grilled rice infused with over 10 herbs and spices, each dish is wrapped in a banana leaf and grilled to perfection, offering a smoky, aromatic experience.
Bara Express won the Foodmaster 2020 West Area Award, making them a go-to for fans of genuine Indonesian flavours.
9. Little Creamery

What better way to end a satisfying meal with a hearty dessert? For fans of ice creams or waffles, Little Creamery is a must-try stall.
At Little Creamery, you can find twists of traditional flavours. For example: Nian Gao Waffles, Coconut Pandan Waffles, Hokkaido Milk Strawberry Gelato and Dark Chocolate Sorbet Gelato.
10. Mon Chinese Beef Roti

Founded in 1999 in Yinchuan, China, Mon Chinese Beef Roti serves pastries inspired by imperial pastries enjoyed by royalty 1,200 years ago.
At Food Republic, customers may choose from either Beef Roti or Chicken Roti. Both are halal and made fresh daily with no artificial additives. The dough is extremely thin, while the fillings are tender and flavourful.

Mon Chinese has earned recognition as a Qingyang District Intangible Cultural Heritage and was selected as one of Chengdu’s Top 100 Famous Dishes. It has over 50 stores worldwide including Singapore, Malaysia and China.
As always, this list is not definitive and highly subjective. Everyone has different taste palette, your food preference may be different from mine.
